On the Work of the Curator
This is the first book in Brazil about curating. This work helps to fill a gap in art and museology studies. Bringing together texts by eight important Brazilian curators – Walter Zanini, Tadeu Chiarelli, Cauê Alves, Cristiana Tejo, Rejane Cintrão, Paula Braga, Mabe Bethônico and Glória Ferreira, the book also provides important study material in discussing the parameters of training and the fundamental concepts of this profession, which is increasingly present in cultural institutions and on the contemporary art scene.

Media and Art: contemporary views
This book concerns the influence of the media in the system of production, circulation and reception of the artwork and cultural apparatus for learning, both inside and outside the classroom. It investigates the appearance of a network of knowledge in the polysemic flow of daily life that is aware of new structures of information and capable of absorbing and producing a really contemporary culture. It is based on the assumption that an eye focused on apprehending this terrain contributes towards better reflection about art and its modes of symbolic organization and, consequently, for the formation of new audiences connected to culture. Considering the actions of art institutions in forming these audiences, and the effects of multiple resources, forms and readings, contemporary technological and media structures have desacralized the sacred space of art by including the advertising and marketing operations of consumer society. Museums, TV shows, Internet, billboards, galleries, and cultural intermediaries – in the complex groupings of everyday reality – have generated a need for education to establish a closer and more intense relationship with this contemporary setting, incorporating it into the educational repertoire that it belongs to.
