I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and I live in Toronto, Canada.
I am art curator, editor and artist graduated in Visual Art from University of São Paulo (USP), with a Specialist's degree in Art-Education from Centre for Art, Culture and Learning (NACE-USP) and in Museum Studies from Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo (MAC-USP), a Master’s degree in Sociology of Culture from FEUSP, and a PhD in Art History, Theory and Criticism from UFRGS Institute of Arts. I am a researcher of the Study Group on Itineraries of Qualification in Education and Culture (GEIFEC-USP).
I directed for 14 years the Zouk Books (one of the bests publishers specialized in art and sociology in Brazil) which also involved a cultural centre. I administrated not only the publishing company, but also an art gallery, three bookshops, a coffee shop and rooms to courses and seminars. As an editor, I worked directly in the creation of more than 120 books, some of them awarded by the São Paulo Biennial Foundation, ABCA Award, Açorianos Award, Fumproarte e Funarte. I worked as Editorial Coordinator of the "8th Mercosul Biennial" and the "2013 International Curitiba Biennial".
As a curator, I was one of the firsts to exhibit the young artists of the 90’s Generation in the city of São Paulo; I curated over 15 exhibitions, always having the pedagogical concern in promoting debates, talks, courses, workshops and graphic material so the exhibitions were better understood by the public. I worked in the production and assembly of more than 20 exhibitions.
I wrote the book "Media and Art: contemporary views" (2006) and organized the books "Metamorfopsy of Education: gaps of a real learning" (2002) and "On the Work of the Curator" (2010), which is the first book about curating in Brazil.
I have 17 years of experience as an Art History teacher. My researches focused in the relationship between the public and the exhibition space, its perception and the values (visible and invisible) involved in the appreciation of the artwork. I am publisher of "VISIT curatorial art magazine".
